Republic of Indonesia

Indonesia is the world's third-largest democracy, its largest archipelagic state, and home to its largest Muslim population.

Indonesia faces challenges stemming from the world economic downturn. Prospects for a sustained high level of economic growth will depend on the pace of critical economic reforms. It operates a relatively open economy, but non-tariff barriers (NTBs) remain an impediment to trade.

Indonesia is important to New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region by virtue of its size, strategic location and natural resources. New Zealand and Indonesia enjoy an open trading relationship. The AANZFTA will greatly assist the continued growth of trade.
